A little over a year ago, the jewelry company I work for decided to go international and conduct business over seas in Germany. My boss was looking into hiring a German speaking person that could assist with negotiations but had not found one yet. I knew this would be a great opportunity for a career jump if only I knew the language and could communicate well with the jewelry executives from there. So I took it upon myself to learn German as fast as possible.
I knew that I did not have the time to go to college with my busy schedule and family priorities, so I needed to find an online course that could help me learn how to speak German fast.
What I found was a bunch of websites with some basic German lessons and translations, but there was no way I was going to learn to speak German by reading a bunch of words. I needed something more so I continued my search and came across 2 really good German learning software courses that offered just what I needed.
I purchased and completed both of these courses within 6 months and I can now honestly vouche for them as they all truly helped me learn to speak German perfectly and efficiently. I have taken the time to review them below so please read through my critiques carefully before making a decision on which course to buy.
Rocket German

The one German learning software that I can totally take pride in reviewing is Rocket German. If you have been searching online for a good german learning program then I am sure you have come across this software. This is by far the best digital course for learning German that I found and not only is it the funnest and most practical method you will find, but it is also one of the most cost effective German learning software out there.
Since I did not have the time or need to write in German, I put off the extensive grammar section of this course for a later time. Instead I focused more on the spoken portion of it which is developed through some fantastic games including; a Mega Verbs game which helps you learn the different tenses of the German language, a Mega Audio game with over 20 different topics and 1000 words which really boosted my pronunciation, and Mega Vocab game which associates pictures with words and even allows you to add your own pictures and words as you learn more so that you can use the game over and over.
Rocket German uses a combination of both audio and computer software in one fun and simple to use program. It offers over 13 hours of mp3 audio which can be either listened to at home, in your car, or in your portable mp3 player. To this day I still listen to some of the mp3s on my way to work and before meeting an important German speaking client. Oh, did I fail to mention that my boss promoted me to the International Sales Manager or our company? Due to my ability to speak German, I now travel to Germany every 3 months to meet with clients for negotiations and events that my non German speaking co-workers would only dream of attending.
One of the things that makes Rocket German my top choice is how it focuses on the actual spoken German language. Most of the clients I meet with in Germany compliment me on how authentic I sound. They tell me I speak 'real' German, something that most foreigners visiting their country fail to accomplish.

Surefire German

The key is to master these thousand words and be able to access them instantly in the mists of a conversation. Surefire German walks you through this process with some really creative and innovative techniques.
